What can children teach us about the way businesses think? Drawing on my experiences as a teacher, mother and career changer, I explore whether prioritising industry experience in recruitment can sometimes mean overlooking valuable new perspectives.

Years of teaching taught me that understanding something and explaining it are two very different skills. I'm discovering that the same lesson applies to data: good analysis only becomes useful when the person receiving it can understand what it means.

Changing careers doesn't have to mean starting from zero. A reflection on why I don't want my previous career to disappear, and how banking, teaching and running a business continue to shape the analyst I'm becoming.
